[Introduction] Welcome to Chengyi Online, the personal homepage of Yan Chengyi, a Singaporean age 28 of Chinese Origin. This part of cyberspace used to be my dedication to the next generation. Alas, all they could learn now were nothing more than my life. Please do not hesitate to look around. People had been asking why anybody would create a personal homepage. Allow me to answer here. I had been online since 1996 and it was a trend then to own a piece of this rapidly growing domain. Truthfully speaking, I do not expect visitors here. Hidden deep somewhere were my memories and these would be priceless in years to come. Forget my FUJITSU Lifebook, I am now armed with an ACER Aspire Notebook equipped with various cool gadgets that I had been acquiring. Using just Microsoft Notepad and Microsoft Paint, I single-handedly written this humble home. Comments are always welcome.

[My Online Activities] The bulk of my wired activities had been focused on forum/newsgroup participation. It all started during the Chinese Indonesians Crisis in May 1998. The initial YI were used and ever since. In the event of maintaining anonymity, nicknames were also used. You do not think I will disclose them, right. Know what you should know and not what you should not. When injustice becomes law, resistance becomes duty. Being a nomad, it was uncommon to find me loitered about for anything more than a month. Oh well, it really depends on the quality of the posts and the topics concerned. Years of forum experience had toughen my tolerance there-by making me less vocal. Knowing the unknowns had since held a higher priority than merely soliciting responses. To date, only the alias Penumbra is associated with me. This was my imported handle from the popular LAN (Local Area Network) game, Half-Life ® : Counter Strike. The word speaks volume of my character. There will be no mercy should you bump into me.

[My Offline Activities] I am known as a television addict way back childhood. I had never refute that title. In-fact, I stopped endorsing it with the coming of the computer age. Nevertheless, the continuous maturing of the DVD (Digital Versatile Disc) technology had finally brought about their convergence. Access to overseas content had never been this convenience. Not only am I an ardent fan of certain genre of anime, I am a television drama fannatic. Periodic drama marathon are carried out from time to time, allowing me to finish entire series within days which will otherwise require weeks.
